Important Disclosures
1. What MexEdge does
MexEdge operates solely as an independent intermediary, placement agent and transaction facilitator. Our services are limited to:
- introducing clients to one or more independent, licensed and regulated financial institutions (our "currency partners");
- assisting with the account opening process, and coordinating communications between clients and their currency partner;
- providing educational information about how foreign currency transactions work, including spot transactions, forward contracts, settlement procedures, deposits, margin requirements, pricing methodology and general currency risk management concepts; and
- providing administrative coordination throughout the transaction process.
MexEdge does not hold client funds, execute transactions, determine pricing, or become a party to any transaction between a client and a currency partner.
Each currency partner is independently responsible for approving accounts, determining eligibility, establishing pricing, setting deposit and margin requirements, executing and settling transactions, maintaining client accounts, and holding client funds.
2. What MexEdge is not
MexEdge is not, and does not act as:
- a bank;
- a foreign exchange dealer;
- a money transmitter or money services business;
- a custodian of client funds or assets;
- a broker-dealer;
- an investment adviser;
- a provider of investment, accounting, legal or tax advice; or
- a law firm or certified public accounting firm.
MexEdge is also not a notario, real estate broker or escrow agent.
3. Education, not advice
MexEdge may explain how available currency risk management products work, including their characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and risks. Each client alone decides whether to open an account, whether to enter into any transaction, the size and timing of any transaction, and which product, if any, to use.
Nothing MexEdge communicates is personalized investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, or a prediction or guarantee about future exchange rates. We encourage clients to consult their own legal, tax, accounting and financial advisors before entering into any transaction.
4. Pricing and exchange rates
All exchange rates and pricing are determined exclusively by the currency partner. MexEdge has no authority to negotiate or determine exchange rates, or to alter or override any currency partner decision.
When a client locks an exchange rate, the resulting contract is between the client and the currency partner, at a rate set by that partner. MexEdge is not a party to that contract.
Where a client has accounts with more than one currency partner, MexEdge may help the client request and compare quotes. The client decides which, if any, to accept.
MexEdge's own fees are separate from the currency partner's pricing, and are set out in each client's signed agreement.
5. Deposits and margin calls
Locking an exchange rate with a forward contract may require an initial deposit. The deposit is not a MexEdge fee. It is paid by the client directly to the currency partner, never to MexEdge, as security for the contract, and it is applied to the final payment when the contract settles. Deposit requirements are determined solely by the currency partner and may change over time.
If market conditions change, a forward contract may become subject to additional collateral requirements, known as a margin call. The amount and timing of any margin call are determined solely by the currency partner, and additional funds may be required on short notice.
Each client alone is responsible for satisfying any margin call. MexEdge bears no responsibility or liability for any margin call, or for any consequences of a client's failure to satisfy one.
6. Your account and your information
Each client's account is opened in the client's own name with a currency partner. With the client's authorization, MexEdge provides the client's information and documentation to a currency partner solely for account opening, transaction coordination, regulatory compliance and related administrative purposes.
Clients also authorize their currency partner to provide MexEdge with trade confirmations, deposit confirmations, wire confirmations and other transaction-related confirmations reasonably necessary for MexEdge to coordinate the client's services.
This authorization does not permit MexEdge to access a client's account, view account balances, execute trades, transfer or withdraw funds, provide trading instructions, modify a client's account, or otherwise exercise control over client assets.
7. How MexEdge is paid
MexEdge is compensated solely by its clients for placement, coordination and administrative services. MexEdge does not receive commissions, referral fees, kickbacks or any other compensation from any currency partner in connection with a client's account or transactions.
MexEdge's fees are separate from the currency partner's pricing. Each client receives MexEdge's fee terms in writing, in the signed client agreement, before engaging our services.
8. Examples, past results and no guarantees
Estimates, examples, sample calculations, timelines, projected exchange rates, projected deposits and other illustrations on this website or provided by MexEdge are educational only and are not binding on any currency partner. Exchange rates used in examples are for illustration only and are subject to change.
Past results, including the client example shown on this website, reflect one client's circumstances at a particular time. They do not indicate or guarantee results for any other client. Comparisons with a "typical bank rate" assume a typical spread from the market rate and are for illustration only.
MexEdge makes no representation or warranty regarding future exchange rates, market direction, transaction performance, financial results, cost savings, availability of pricing, or the completion of any transaction.
When a client locks an exchange rate, the agreed rate is established in a contract directly between the client and the currency partner, and is subject to that contract's terms and conditions, including the client's obligations under it. References on this website to a "guaranteed" or "locked" rate mean this contractual rate.
9. Risks of foreign exchange
Foreign exchange markets fluctuate continuously, and exchange rates cannot be predicted. Foreign exchange transactions involve financial risk, including:
- Giving up favorable movements. Once a rate is locked, the client does not benefit if the market later moves in the client's favor. Market movements may result in an outcome less favorable than if the client had not entered into the transaction.
- Additional collateral. A currency partner may require additional deposits, sometimes on short notice (see "Deposits and margin calls").
- Changes in timing. Extending a contract or drawing on it early can adjust the contracted rate.
- Cancelling a contract. If a client no longer needs a contract, for example because a purchase falls through, the currency partner closes it out. Depending on market conditions and the partner's calculation, the client may owe money or receive a payment.
- Delays and interruptions. Transactions depend on currency partners, banks and payment systems, which may experience delays, failures or interruptions.
- No deposit insurance. Accounts with currency partners are not bank deposits and are not covered by the FDIC or similar deposit insurance programs.
Each client alone is responsible for determining whether any transaction is appropriate for the client's objectives and financial circumstances.
